Agent Autoreply to Original Sender

When you receive emails that your agent could answer, you can forward them to your agent's autoreply address. Your agent will then reply directly to the original sender on your behalf—perfect for handling FAQs or setting up out-of-office auto-replies.

Getting Started

To enable agent autoreply:

  1. Go to Settings in your Answers From Me dashboard
  2. Click the Connect tab
  3. Find the Inbound Email section
  4. Enable "Enable agent auto-reply to original sender when forwarding"

Your Autoreply Email Address

Once enabled, your agent gets a unique autoreply address in this format:

{handle}@autoreply.answersfrom.me

Replace {handle} with your Answers From Me handle. For example, if your handle is drsmith, your autoreply address would be drsmith@autoreply.answersfrom.me.

You can copy this address directly from the settings page using the copy button.

Controlling Who Can Forward

The autoreply feature has its own Allow senders list. This controls who can forward emails to your autoreply address—typically just yourself or trusted systems.

Add your email addresses here to ensure only you can trigger autoreplies.

CC the Forwarder

Enable CC the immediate forwarder when replying to keep yourself in the loop. When your agent replies to the original sender, you'll receive a copy.

Use Case: Out-of-Office Auto-Forwarding

This feature is ideal for setting up automatic responses while you're away:

  1. Create an out-of-office or inbox rule in your email client
  2. Set it to forward incoming emails to {handle}@autoreply.answersfrom.me
  3. Your agent will automatically respond to the original sender using your knowledge base
  4. Enable CC to receive copies of all responses

This way, people emailing your work address get immediate, helpful responses from your agent while you're unavailable.

How It Works

  1. You forward an email to {handle}@autoreply.answersfrom.me
  2. Your agent extracts the original sender from the forwarded message
  3. It searches your knowledge base and composes a response
  4. The response is sent to the original sender (not you)
  5. If CC is enabled, you receive a copy

Responses maintain email threading, so the conversation stays organized in everyone's inbox. Your agent includes a brief signature indicating the response was AI-generated.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Set up forwarding rules: Use your email client's rules to automatically forward certain types of questions to your autoreply address
  • Enable CC: Keep yourself informed of all replies your agent sends
  • Review responses: Check your agent's sent emails periodically to ensure quality
  • Update your knowledge base: If your agent gives incomplete answers, add more content to help it respond better
  • Great for vacations: Combine with out-of-office rules to provide helpful responses while you're away
